In the Mercedes Benz stadium at Passion Conference 2022; Pastor David platt showed a picture of half the world in red, half the world in yellow and green, and the rest in orange. He stated,
“Those in the red, and most of the orange and some of the yellow will be born, will live and will die and will never have heard of the good news of Jesus dying on the cross for them.”
The room went quiet. Tears began to stream down my face and an unexplainable numbness filled my body as I repeated those words in my head.
Half of the world has never heard the gospel.
Half of the world could die today and go to hell.
Half of the world doesn’t know their savior died on the cross for them to rescue them from sin. It absolutely destroyed me.
As he continued to explain the condition of our world and our task here on earth; I simply couldn’t focus.
Goosebumps filled my arms and tears continued to streamed down my face as I thought about what it is like over there? In countries and cities that don’t have access to the gospel.
As I think back to this moment; my heart breaks for them every day. Not just those overseas, but even in my own town, state and country that don’t know Jesus. It hurts.
We are on mission. To reach the 3.34 billion people unreached. To reach the 7,414 unreached people groups. To reach the 42.3 percent of our world that has never heard of their savior Jesus Christ. We have a mission. We are here on this earth to spread the gospel. Mark 16:15 states “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” The bible is clear that people can’t be saved from their sins if they don’t believe in Jesus; but if we don’t go they won’t hear about Jesus; thus not being able to even believe. It is our job to spread the name of Jesus!
So the question I ask myself nearly every day I’ll ask you today.
“What am I doing?”
sit and think on this. Seriously what are we doing? We must refuse day in and day out to settle for a casual, comfortable and cultural christianity. Numbers may seem distant; but picture yourself there. Put yourself in their shoes. They are living in an earthly hell and no one has ever told them how they can be saved from eternal hell. No one has shared God’s love with them.
And that breaks my heart. but does it break yours? Does your heart break for the 3.34 billion people overseas who don’t know Jesus? Does your heart break for the people of all ages dying and going to eternal hell? Does your heart break knowing they don’t know their savior? Jesus has come for them all and we have the news of rescue. We know the one who has paid the cost and released us from sin and suffering. He desires for ALL to know him and his love and it our job to reach those who don’t him.
We are on a mission. Together. To reach the unreached people of this world and spread the gospel of all.
Because I know; The image of the map will never go away. The thought of people not having access to the gospel will never go away. The urgency to go will never go away. We. You and I are on mission to spread the gospel. To friends, neighbors, coworkers, families and strangers. Will you join me?
